Description
The Navy Ribbed Rice Bowl showcases the distinctive character of Mino ware through a textured, ribbed design. Shaped using the traditional shinogi technique, it features soft vertical ridges that add depth and tactile interest to the bowl. Its navy blue glaze reveals subtle gradations of gray and blue, while natural speckles give each bowl a unique appearance.
Thoughtfully sized for rice, side dishes, or small servings of soup, the bowl is designed for everyday dining. Its slightly flared rim provides a comfortable grip, while the footed base gives the bowl stability on the table.
With its understated form and textured finish, the Navy Ribbed Rice Bowl pairs easily with other ceramic tableware or can be used on its own. The shinogi ridges and navy blue glaze bring a quiet Japanese character to everyday meals.

Mino Ware
Mino ware is a traditional pottery from Gifu Prefecture with a history of more than 1,300 years. Its origins trace back to the Nara period, when early potters began producing simple earthenware. During the Momoyama period (late 16th century), Mino became Japan’s leading center for ceramics, giving rise to distinctive styles such as Shino, Oribe, and Kizeto—each deeply connected to the aesthetics of the Japanese tea ceremony. Today, as Japan’s largest pottery-producing region, Mino continues to evolve with contemporary life, blending timeless craftsmanship with modern design to support the way people eat and live every day.Rice Bowl
The rice bowl, called ochawan (お茶碗) or simply chawan, is the most personal element among Japanese tableware. In Japan, each family member typically has their own personal rice bowl that they choose based on preference for portion size, material, and design. They may change bowls to match the season or occasion, too. For a bowl that holds a standard one-cup (150 g, 5.3 oz) serving of Japanese steamed rice, choose one that's 4.7 inches (12 cm) across and 2.4 inches (6 cm) high. For a smaller serving size (130 g, 4.6 oz), we recommend a bowl that's about 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) across and 2.3 inches (5.7 cm) high.Shipping & Return
